Rory Stewart MP said last night on Question Time that the nations wounds should be bound up with love. Funny thing is that I agree with him. We are in the grips of political extremism whether from the right or the left and all this generates is anger, hatred and intolerance.
Yes we can have our differences but we don’t have to be angry all the time, we dont have to show hatred and we don’t have to be intolerant. It is better to show love, it is better to be tolerant and it is better to be peaceable.
Sadly there are those on both sides of the political divide who seem to want people to be angry, who want people to show more hatred and intolerance and these people should not be given the oxygen of publicity but they are because it is these negative emotions that sell when it should be the opposite,
In 1904 there was a wellspring of love that overflowed and it flowed into other countries and it was called the Welsh revival. We have not seen a revival on that scale since and maybe it is time we did, the country would be better for it.
Soon it will be Pentecost an Important day for Jews for it marks fifty days after Passover but it is also important for people like me Christian People. We remember the coming of the Holy Spirit 40 days after the crucifixion and 10 days after the ascension of Jesus Christ. , Just before Jesus was crucified he told his disciples that the Holy Spirit would come after him.
“And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Counselor to be with you forever — the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you. I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you”. John 14:16–18
Some People have never experienced the Holy Spirit coming into their lives, if you have experienced it then you know what I am talking about. Its transformational and sanctifying. This Pentecost I want to ask you, no I want to lay down a challenge to you all, get to know the living saviour of all humanity, get to know Jesus Christ. Open yourself up to the infilling of the Holy Spirit, repent and let it redeem you, let it restore you , let it renew you, let it sanctify you. I can tell you you’ll never regret it I haven’t and let’s pray for revival right across this land.
And may God bless you all.
