Love All People
2″ My dear brothers and sisters, as believers in our glorious Lord Jesus Christ, never think some people are more important than others. 2 Suppose someone comes into your church meeting wearing nice clothes and a gold ring. At the same time a poor person comes in wearing old, dirty clothes. 3 You show special attention to the one wearing nice clothes and say, “Please, sit here in this good seat.” But you say to the poor person, “Stand over there,” or, “Sit on the floor by my feet.” 4 What are you doing? You are making some people more important than others, and with evil thoughts you are deciding that one person is better.
5 Listen, my dear brothers and sisters! God chose the poor in the world to be rich with faith and to receive the kingdom God promised to those who love him. 6 But you show no respect to the poor. The rich are always trying to control your lives. They are the ones who take you to court. 7 And they are the ones who speak against Jesus, who owns you”.
My dear brothers and sisters we are living in an age where hatred and intolerance is gaining ground. We as Christians must be the bulwark against this form of evil. We must stand up and speak out when anybody is abused, when an unkindly word is spoken.
A door was opened to all manner or hatred and intolerance the number of years ago as of yet it has not been closed, Jesus calls us to develop a spirit of love and tolerance. Not point fingers at others lest other fingers be pointed at us.
We must be examples of good order, of love and of tolerance. The only thing we should not tolerate is sinful living. But only God determines what is sinful and what is not sinful and that has been laid down in his word
Jesus said those he has called are in the world but not of the world. This means that’s the standard we set for ourselves must be higher than the standard others set for themselves. But we must not be judgemental or quick to condemn, on the contrary God calls us to help others in raising their standards.
We do that by developing a heart full of love and compassion for the lest fortunate, we do that by developing an understanding of the many needs that people may face, we do that by a listening without judging for we will all be judged by the highest judge one day.
We live in a country which is divided over various issues even Christian people have been drawn in to the maelstrom of hatred and intolerance. Whilst we have to stand aside from this we should not remain quiet, hatred and intolerance is like a cancer and if we Christian people do not confront it and challenge it, it will spread right over this land. There are those around who feed and get fat on hatred and intolerance. We must deprive them of the food that feeds. I call upon Christian leaders and Christian people everywhere to take a stand, to stick your head above the parapet and call out hatred and intolerance wherever you see it.
Love all, hate none, we are living in a state where hatred and intolerance is spreading and like an octopus it’s tentacles reach into all parts of society. I make this plea to all Christian people do not be drawn in by its allure because it will surely destroy you. Our message the message we preach must be a message of love because Christ was love.we should have nothing to do with the harbingers of hatred and intolerance on the contrary we should challenge them we should challenge them with love and with tolerance.
I place this great hymn before you written by Frances (Fanny) Crosby
TO GOD BE THE GLORY
To God be the glory, great things He hathdone;
So loved He the world that He gave us His Son,
Who yielded His life, an atonement for sin,
And opened the lifegate, that all may go in.
O perfect redemption, the purchase of blood,
To every believer, the promise of God;
The vilest offender who truly believes,
That moment from Jesus a pardon receives.
Great things He hath taught us, great things He hath done,
And great our rejoicing through Jesus the Son;
But purer, and higher, and greater will be
Our wonder, our worship, when Jesus we see!
Praise the Lord, praise the Lord,
Let the earth hear His voice!
Praise the Lord, praise the Lord,
Let the people rejoice!
O come to the Father, through Jesus the Son,
And give Him the glory, great things He hath done!
Whether my life be long or short I shall spend it in the service of my Lord for he is mine and I am his and forever shall it be.
And may God bless you all this day
