Just thinking about John Wesley and George Whitfield. John Wesley who was steeped in Arminian theology and George Whitfield who had a more calvinistic approach. The idea of predestination has never sat easy with me although it was it is articulated in Paul’s letter to the Romans and Calvin uses it quite a lot to form his theological argument. I keep thinking where is free will in all this. Wesley’s sermon on Free Grace and justification by faith probably sit easier with me. Free Will the idea that you can choose to do good or choose to do bad , the choice is yours and so will the reward or punishment be yours. But I don’t see where the concept of hope sits with the idea of predestination.
Perhaps some brainy theologian might want to comment.
